Grizzlies earn first win of the season on the road
Sept. 24, 2011 — The Lassen High varsity football team (0-3) took on the Central Valley Falcons, (3-0) Friday, Sept. 23, and the Grizzlies came away with the win, 34-14.
Making their way into the endzone five times thanks to their running game, Lassen’s Cameron Medico led the drive with four touchdowns despite being out most of the second half with a minor injury.
Matt Damm stepped up and earned a Lassen touchdown as well.
In addition to Lassen's running game, the Grizzlies' defense was in fine form, allowing two Central Valley touchdowns.
This was the Grizzlies’ first matchup in a Division II contest, taking on Division I teams in the preseason and losing a combined total of a mere 14 points in three games to DI schools.
Medico now leads the league and section in rushing yards and is currently ranked 25th in the state.
The Grizzlies return home Friday, Sept. 30, to take on the Pleasant Valley Vikings for the popular homecoming celebration.
