National rodeo comes to fairgrounds for barrel racing
Sept. 28, 2011 — The Lassen County Fairgrounds will play host to a national barrel racing competition featuring members of the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA).
The event is scheduled to be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 2, with practice for the riders to be held at 9 a.m.
The first annual Susanville, Calif., Fall Flurry Barrel Race is presented by KHC Ranch Productions and is a national finals rodeo, one of 15 in the nation.The American West 4D committee sanctions the national WPRA competition.
There will be stalls, RV hookups and free overnight dry camping available, as well as discounted room rates at the Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel. A concession stand will be open both days.
Riders will receive cash prizes with 75 percent of the money raised going toward prizes.
