Cougars make the national rankings
Oct. 6, 2011 — The Lassen College men’s soccer team has earned the number 11 spot in the national rankings after debuting at number 17, according to National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
This is the second year in a row the Cougars earned a national ranking under head coach Ben Wade with a team comprised of mostly freshmen. Wade said the Cougars’ preseason record of 3-1-3 has been turning heads of coaches around the country.
“I am in contact daily with universities to get (the) sophomores scholarships at the next level,” said Wade. “I see it as a big part of my job, even more than winning, to secure these young men who have worked so hard at LCC a future in education and to get a degree."
The Cougars startrf conference play against Butte College at home, Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the first home appearance of the season. The team came away with a 4-1 win.
