October 27, 2012 — The Lassen High School (LHS) football team hosted the Central Valley Falcons Friday, Oct. 26.

The game pitted the number-two in the Northern Athletic League (NAL) Grizzlies, who came in with a 3-5 record and 2-1 in the NAL.

Against the number-one in the NAL Central Valley Falcons who came in with a 4-4 record overall and 3-0 in the NAL.

Despite the valiant effort by the Grizzlies, they fell just short, losing in overtime, 29-21.

Nathan Freeman had a good game passing the ball — he threw for 122 yards on 13 completions out of 23 attempts, and one touchdown.

Bryan Schaake rushed for 86 yards on 27 attempts.

Case Bennett ran for 81 yards on 13 attempts and a touchdown.

The Northern Section leader in receptions, Frank Shepherd, caught six passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.

Brian McDonald caught three passes for 38 yards, and was also three for three on his extra points.

Grizzly captain, David Vicondoa, led the team in tackles yet again with 10.

Austin Silveria finished with six tackles.

Hunter McCallister had four tackles.

Kyler Harris finished with two tackles and a recovered fumble. Bennett recovered a fumble and had three tackles.

With the loss, the Grizzlies fall to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the NAL.

They host the Yreka Miners Friday, Nov. 2 at Arnold Field.

The Grizzlies are in a must win situation if they want to make the playoffs.
