Thomas Edward Lowry

In loving memory of Thomas Edward Lowry. Thomas was born in Susanville, Calif. June 26, 1954 and was a lifelong resident of Susanville.

Thomas was preceded in death by father, Stanley Lowry, and brother, Michael Lowry, both of Susanville. Thomas Lowry is survived by his longtime fiancée, Christine Jensen, of Susanville; daughter, Tahnee Willow Lowry, of Elk City, Okla.; granddaughters, Faith Winter Lowry, of Susanville and Journey Isabel Cienfuegos, of Muskogee, Okla.; grandson, Gregory Cienfuegos II, of Muskogee; brothers, Ike Lowry, Allen Lowry and Doyle Lowry, all of Susanville; and sisters, Susan Campbell, of Chico, Calif., Amanda Merritt, of Charleston, Ore. and Shirley Lorraine, of Florence, Ore.

Thomas entered into rest in Reno, Nev. Nov. 17, 2012.

Thomas graduated from Lassen High School in 1972; he played halfback football, and track and field during high school. Thomas was a member of the Susanville Indian Rancheria, and worked for the first all-Indian Hotshot Crew in Hobart Mills, Calif. Tom’s nicknames were Tommy Turtle, Tom Horn, Tommy Touch Down, Tommy T and Hawk. Tom worked with the USFS, Erickson Sky Crane Logging and Indian Head Logging. Tom was a true woodsman and lover of the outdoors and a proud Pit River, Mountain Maidu and Washo Indian man.

A private internment was held in the Family Cemetery on the Lowry Ranch in Crescent Mills. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at the Diamond Mountain Casino, in the Diamond Willow Room for all family and friends.

 

Miriam Kathleen Oliver

Miriam Kathleen Oliver, 90, died Nov. 17, 2012 in Susanville. She was born in Colorado Feb. 22, 1922.

Miriam is survived by daughter, Vianna and Patrick Robbins, of Standish; son, Jim and Cindy Oliver, of Easley, S.C.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at Chester Cemetery, Chester.

Chester resident Stacy Kristine Phelps peacefully died Monday afternoon, Nov. 19, 2012 at Seneca Health Care District's Hospital, in Chester.

She was born April 26, 1976 to Mark and Carol (Clemens) Jacobs, in Mt. Shasta, Calif .

Stacy is survived by her husband, Brian, of Chester; children, Kevin Washington, Dominic Jacobs, Cheyenne Washington and Danica Phelps, all of Chester; parents, Mark Jacobs and LaVon Clemens, both of Chester; grandparents, Carol Jacobs, of Foresthill, Calif., and Jerry and Carol Clemens, of Dunsmuir, Calif.; brothers, Michael Jacobs and wife Candice, of Chester, Isaac Jacobs, of Kansas and Christopher Roe, of Redding; sisters, Gabrilla Jacobs, of Anderson, Calif. and Rachel Lind, of Medford, Ore.; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Stacy's life will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at the Almanor Recreation Center.
