Heavy rainfall causes flooding in some areas of Susanville

The Susan River rages along Carroll Street in Susanville, Sunday, Dec. 2. According to Susanville Police Chief Tom Downing, there was localized flooding on Carroll, Juniper and Cornell streets and Richmond Road. The Susanville Fire Department and the Susanville police officers continue to monitor the situation. Residents on Juniper Street said water did pour over a rock wall and seeped through a wall of a home. Photos by Ruth Ellis

A Susanville city employee is on stand-by at Carroll Street with more sandbags, if needed. Sandbags were placed along the K-Rail Saturday, Dec. 1 in anticipation of heavy rainfall and a flood warning.

Sandbags are stacked up along a rock wall at a Juniper Street residence. According to a neighbor, water poured over the wall and seeped into the home.

I was wondering if someone could drive by 1606 Cornell Street and see if the residence was flooded. I once owned that house and always thought it would hold up in a flood. I live in Oregon. I'll check back on this site. Thanks.
