Connie Crawford
On Sunday, Dec. 17, 2012, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend went to live with our Heavenly Father. She was born March 25, 1949 in the old Riverside Hospital on Riverside Drive in Susanville, Calif. She lived in Susanville until the age of 6 when she and her family moved to Greenville, Calif. Dad bought the Standard Station in Greenville and was able to do the mechanics and the body and paint work. He also had the AAA tow service for more than 30 years.
Connie met and married the love of her life when she was 16 years old, June 5, 1966. They were married for 46 years. She and Don stayed in Greenville for one more year while Connie finished high school. Then he got a job at the Clark Ranch in Laytonville, Calif. He worked overseeing the timber falling on the ranch and then they moved closer to town. He drove the water truck for the company for a year and then they signed him on as a timber faller. He worked as a timber faller until 1989 when they moved to Susanville where Don got a job as a correctional officer for the state at CCC.
Connie and Don had one daughter, Katia (Dwight) Weatherford. Connie was a stay-at-home mom for all of her life. She took in children to make extra money. She remains friends with Jonah to this day. She was very involved in her church and active in the community of Laytonville. She served on the school board for several years while Katia was in school. After she came to Susanville she remained actively involved in community and church activities. She served on the grand jury for two years. Even through her long illness she served her family and friends, and was always there to talk with someone or visit one in need.
She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Crawford; her daughter, Katia Weatherford; her granddaughters, Kaleigh, Kendyl, Reaghan and Madison, all of Janesville. They were the loves of her life. She also is survived by siblings, Dottie Little Koontz, of Ridgefield, Wash., Jo Marie Little Miller (Bill), of Janesville, brother, John K. Little (Mary), of Mule Creek, N.M., and MaryAnn Little Lowe (Jeff), of Mojave, Calif.
