Semi-truck accident closes highway
Jan. 2, 2013 — A semi-truck accident north of Deep Cut Road closed Highway 395 for more than five hours on Dec. 30.
At approximately 5:15 p.m. Erick Arrue, 38, of Nevada, was traveling southbound on Highway 395 in a 2004 Freightliner truck hauling a 53-foot box semi, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
For unknown reasons, Arrue allowed the right side tires of his vehicle to exit the east roadway edge onto the snow-covered shoulder.
In an attempt to return to the roadway, Arrue lost control of the vehicle and it overturned on its right side and came to rest perpendicular to the roadway blocking both the northbound and southbound lanes. The roadway remained closed until approximately 10:25 p.m.
Arrue was not injured.
