Doyle man arrested after hit and run
Jan. 28, 2013 — An investigation into a hit and run accident that occurred the morning of Saturday, Jan. 26 resulted in the arrest of Jeremy Bay, 27, of Doyle.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said James Jackson, 67, of Doyle, left his home on Laver Crossing in his 1984 Mercury Grand Marquis and came to the intersection on Highway 395,
He made a left turn onto the southbound lane of the highway and as he accelerated, Jackson saw headlights appear behind him.
Bay, driving a 1974 Ford Mavrick, was traveling at an speed unsafe for the fog and icy roadway, and was unable to slow his vehicle before colliding with the rear of Jackson’s car, according to the CHP.
Neither man was injured.
Both parties stopped on the right shoulder. While Jackson retrieved his rear license plate from the traffic lane, Bay returned to his vehicle and allegedly left the scene, according to the CHP.
Further investigation led investigators to Bay’s residence where he was taken into custody on charges of hit and run and driving under the influence.
