Susanville resident to compete in $1 million Pillsbury Bake-Off

March 18, 2013 — Mindie Hilton, of Susanville, Calif., was recently named one of 60 semifinalists in the freshly redesigned 46th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. Hilton needs Susanville’s votes to send her to the finals to compete for $1 million in dough.

Hilton is now available for interviews and recipe demos. Hilton was selected as a semifinalist in the Doable Dinners category for her recipe, “Bacon Asian Orange Chicken Pizza.”

Voting is open on BakeOff.com through 10 a.m. March 28.

For the first time in the 64-year history of the bake-off, America will determine which of the semifinalist recipes will vie for the grand prize. Those 100 finalists will compete at the bake-off finals, Nov. 10 through 12 at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.

Hilton needs your help to make it to the next round to compete for a chance to win.

The Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest is one of the most iconic competitions in the United States. It originated in 1949, with the first competition at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

New this year, to encourage simpler, original recipes, submissions — including Hilton's — were limited to seven or fewer ingredients and must take 30 minutes or less to prepare, not including baking or cooling time. For more information, go to BakeOff.com.
