Ricki Lynn Best

Ricki Lynn Best, 59, of Greenhorn Ranch, died March 3, 2013.

She was born Aug. 8, 1953 in Sonora, Calif. to Owen and Mary (Morroney) Masters.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Gregory Best, of Greenhorn Ranch; daughter, Autumn Bastedo, of Arkansas; grandchildren, Aubry, Adrian, Brianna and Destiny; a brother, Pete Masters, of Meadow Valley, Calif.; and sister, Linda Lee, of Quincy.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Ann Best.

Dolores Kane Browne

Dolores Kane Browne passed away March 12, 2013 at Hearthstone Skilled Medical and Rehabilitation Facility, in Sparks, Nev. She was born April 27, 1929 in Reno, Nev. She was a graduate of Stewart Indian School in 1946, and moved to Susanville, where two of her daughters were born.

Dolores was married to William Browne in 1986 in Hawaii; they renewed their vows three years ago in Sonora. Dolores and Bill had 10 glorious years of traveling every state in the Union. Her fondest memories were of the cloud covers in Alaska. She loved clouds.

Dolores’ mother was Shoshone Paiute from Fallon, Nev. and her father was native Hawaiian. She and Bill spent time every year with Dolores’ family in Kauai, Hawaii.

Dolores is survived by her loving husband, Bill Browne; her sister, Jeanne Morris; her three daughters, Carole Lowry (Ike), Karen Simmons (Steve) and Vicki Prickett (David); stepson, Mike Browne (Toni); stepdaughter, Terrel Ann Libertore (Ray); four grandchildren, Molly Rose Prickett, Patrick Chase, Kyle Nelson and Kris Cooper; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her daughter will host a celebration of Dolores’ life at noon April 20, 2013 at the Susanville Indian Rancheria Resource Center in Susanville. Please call 257-3097 for further information.

Interment will be done by the family at a later date. Donations may be made to your local American Cancer Society Relay for life.

Our beautiful wife and mother leaves a legacy of love and laughter to her family and will be missed beyond words.

Peggy Ann Clemens

Peggy Ann Clemens passed away at her home March 4, 2013. Peggy was born to Walter and Agnes Cornish on Sept. 5, 1937 in Paso Robles, Calif.

Peggy lived in California until 1967 when she moved to Reno, Nev. with her husband and daughter. After raising her daughter, Peggy went to work as a bookkeeper. Peggy retired from FMC Gold Company in 2006 and relocated to Susanville, Calif. to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by her brother, Joe Cornish; her sister, Barbara Morris; her daughter, Yvonne Smith; grandson, Eric Kline; granddaughter, Michelle Kline; and great-granddaughter, Rylee Ann Kline.

Peggy will be remembered for her kindness and dedication to her family and loved ones.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Diamond Crest Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held following the service at Susan River Apartments Community Center, 1625 Riverside Drive, Susanville.

Lawrence E. Smith

Lawrence E. (Larry) Smith passed away Nov. 3, 2012 in Fresno, Calif. He was born to Ralph C. Smith and Edna Sims Smith on Sept. 24, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He lived in Susanville for 47 years before moving to Clovis, Calif. in July of 2009.

He is survived by his “sweetheart,” Virginia, wife of 54 years; two daughters, Paulette Barnard and Janet Monroe (Tom); three grandsons, Scott and Michael Hansen and Ryan Monroe; three sisters, Shirley Kurihara (Eric), Evelyn Baer (Dan) and Lorraine Figures (Raul).

He was Lassen High School’s librarian from 1963 to 1992. He served in the military in WWII. Larry was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission for the church in his earlier years.

A graveside service was held for him in Clovis at the Clovis Cemetery on Nov. 9, 2012 with Bishop Daniel Rowley conducting. Serenity Funeral Home in Fresno, Calif. provided the arrangements.

He will be missed as a beloved husband, dad and papa.

Sheri Dawn Winslow

Sheri Winslow went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the evening of March 12, 2013 at her home surrounded by close friends and family.

Sheri was born in Susanville, Calif. on July 31, 1954 and raised in Willow Creek Valley. While growing up, Sheri was involved in rodeos, 4-H and was Jr. Rodeo Queen. She loved horses and being outside working on the family ranch with her dad. Sheri graduated from Lassen High School in 1972 and attended dental assistant school in Sacramento. In 1974, Sheri married her high school sweetheart, Mark Winslow, and moved to San Luis Obispo, then on to Temecula, Calif. where she became a dental assistant, working for the same dentist for the past 35 years.

Sheri was active in her local community and church groups. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed gardening, reading and being around her family and friends. Sheri was the most genuine and kindest person you could ever meet and anyone who met her was touched by her love and generosity. Memories of Sheri will remain forever in our hearts.

Sheri is survived by her husband of 39 years, Mark Winslow, of Wildomar, Calif.; daughter, Cortney (Tyson) Hagee herson, Tyler (Lauren) Winslow, both of San Diego, Calif.; her mother, Sue Farstad, father, Bud (Bea) Price, and sister, Shannon (Jeff) Polan, all from Susanville; niece and nephew, Kylie and Keenan Polan, of Reno, Nev.

There will be a celebration of life for Sheri at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Susanville Community Church on Numa Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lassen High School Alumni Association or Lassen County CattleWomen’s Scholarship Fund in Sheri’s memory.
