Police arrest two male juveniles for possession of stolen property, petty theft
Aug. 7, 2013 — The Susanville Police Department reminds residents to “lock their vehicles at night and keep all valuables out of sight,” after two juveniles were arrested for possession of stolen property and petty theft around 2 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.
According to a press release from the police department, officers responded to the 400 block of N. Spring Street to investigate a report of three juveniles trying to enter parked vehicles.
A responding officer noticed three juveniles walking near N. Mesa and Fourth streets. When the juveniles saw the patrol vehicle, two of them fled into a field while the third continued walking north on N. Mesa Street.
Officers contacted the 15-year-old walking down the street and later found a 14-year-old hiding in the field. Another 15-year-old involved in the incident was located at a Susanville residence.
“As a result of the investigation, two of the juveniles were booked into the Lassen County Juvenile Detention Facility for possession of stolen property and petty theft,” according to the police department’s release. “The third juvenile was cited for violation of curfew and released to a parent.”
The case has been referred to the juvenile division of the Lassen County Probation Department.
