Aug. 13 — Seventh and eighth grade volleyball players got to learn the fundamentals of the game and hone their skills during Lassen Community College’s youth volleyball camp Saturday, Aug. 3 and Sunday, Aug. 4.
The two-day camp was organized and run by Lassen Community College’s new head volleyball coach, Amy Williamson and an assistant.
The seventh and eighth grade campers got to practice and play in the Lassen Community College gym alongside the Lady Cougars volleyball team, which began practicing for the upcoming season Aug. 1.
According to Williamson, the camp focused on skill development and covered all the basic skills used in the game of volleyball.
Two more half-day volleyball camps were held at Lassen Community on Sunday, Aug. 11 for ninth and tenth and 11th and 12th grade players who wanted to prepare for Lassen High School volleyball tryouts, which will take place today, Tuesday, Aug. 13 through Thursday, Aug. 15. The tryout preparation camps covered basic volleyball skills, but were mainly an opportunity for the players to compete in scrimmages and get ready for team tryouts.
