Traffic delay on interstate during Labor Day weekend
Aug. 29, 2013 — The California Department of Transportation District 2 is alerting motorists on Interstate 5 between Redding and the Oregon border there will be short delays while traveling this Labor Day weekend. Due to construction activity and the reduction to one lane at various construction locations, both northbound and southbound, up to 15-minute delays with the possibility of traffic coming to a complete stop during high volume periods is anticipated. Allow additional travel time and drive with caution in this and all construction areas.
Motorists should plan for additional delays when traveling this holiday weekend due to high traffic volumes on all roadways. Be prepared with extra food and water, have a full tank of gas and make sure your vehicle is in good working order. Construction activity will be limited on most roadways, but there are still travel restrictions in place. Visit the District 2 website at caltrans2.info for more information.
Caltrans would also like to remind the traveling public to move over if safe or slow down when they see Caltrans vehicles flashing warning lights along the side of the highways, and to Slow for the Cone Zone.
