CHP and Susanville Police Department to conduct DUI checkpoint
Sept. 4, 2013 — The Susanville Area of the California Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Susanville Police Department, will be conducting a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint on Friday, Sept. 6 at an undisclosed location within the Susanville city limits.
The goal is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of drunk driving. A sobriety checkpoint is a proven, effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations.
All vehicles will be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can expect to be arrested. The object is to send a clear message to those considering mixing alcohol and/or drugs with driving that the CHP and Susanville Police Department will be keeping an eye out for you.
Officers will also be checking the status of driver licenses. For those drivers who are driving with suspended or expired licenses, enforcement action will be taken and your vehicle will be towed.
