Big rig fire closes Highway 70
Update: State Route 70 is now back open in both directions from Big Bend Road to the Greenville Wye following this morning’s fatal big rig accident near Belden. Cleanup and repairs from the fire are complete.
Oct. 29, 2013 — State Route 70 is closed from 1.2 miles west of Jarbo Gap in Butte County to the northern junction of State Route 89 at the Greenville Wye in Plumas County due to a big rig fire, according to a press release from the California Department of Transportation about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Caltrans advises motorists to use an alternate route.
