Tom Dennin said some unprincipled sportsman put giant powder in the creek near his Mountain Meadow ranch last winter and made sad havoc among the trout. Dennin said his creek used to be the best trout stream in the country, but with such acts of vandalism, it could be worthless as a fishing ground.

 

Remember When for March 23, 2010

120 years ago   

A great deal of trouble and vexation caused to the traveling public by the bottomless condition of the piece of road in front of Sugru’s place might be overcome by the judicious use of sagebrush which abounds on each side of the road.   

A plentiful layer of sagebrush lain crosswise of the crack is an excellent means of temporary relief from an embargo of mud.

It was easy to tell the winner of a “heated discussion” down on Main Street.   

Old Bob downed his opponent and was ready to finish him off with his heavy cane when a group of onlookers intervened.

115 years ago   

Mr. John Wagner, the new proprietor of the Quincy-Oroville Stage Line, came up from Merrimack to complete arrangements for running his stages. It was Wagner’s intention to maintain a first-class line in all respects, and he invited public patronage.
