Ike Knoch left last Friday to spend a few weeks at the Bay City. Rumor has it that Knoch will return alone. Ike’s mother vows vengeance upon him should he commit such a rash act, but his father said, “Should he get a gal that will not be compelled to have a barber comb her hair and a maid to wait on her, I don’t object!”

The fire company purchased a large fire plug and put it into place just below the water tank. This is a good move and at least two more should be put in on Main Street above the water tank.

Skating has been the order of the day among the young people of Susanville. The river has been frozen over with a coat of ice 10 inches thick, and many of the young people have become expert skaters this winter.

 

Remember When for Jan. 11, 2011

70 years ago
Along with urging more aid for Britain in her war against oppression and aggression, the Susanville Monticola Club, at its first meeting of the new year in the rooms of the Story Club, took action in the matter of removing the highway hazard between Susanville and Doyle, wherein there is no white safety line.
