Herlong Lady Vikings conquer Greenville

Jan. 30 — The Herlong High School girl’s basketball team won its home game against Greenville High School last night. The Lady Vikings beat the Greenville Lady Indians, 33-24. Sophomore Danielle Harris led Herlong’s offense with 15 points. Seanna Miller scored 10 points and Kasey Berry had five points for the Lady Vikings. Janesville Wrestling competes in Reno

Jan. 29 — The Janesville Wrestling Association traveled to Reno, Nev. to compete in the South Reno Invitational Tournament Saturday, Jan. 26.
Levi Prater won first place in the schoolboy division. In the novice division, Bonner and Chase Montgomery won first place, Dylan Boyer won third and Josh Gramatico won fourth. Tristen Marshall earned second place in the intermediate division. Hailey Montgomery won first place in intermediate. Parker Montgomery won first place in the bantam division.
Lassen Grizzlies win the axe

Jan. 17 — The Lassen High School Grizzlies faced off against the Chester High School Volcanoes in the first annual County Axe Battle in the Lassen Community College (LCC) gym last night. The Grizzlies won the suspenseful game against their rival, 49-47, in front of a massive crowd of Lassen, Chester and LCC fans. For their victory, KSUE Sports awarded the Grizzlies a trophy that featured a full-size axe. The Grizzlies will keep the axe trophy at Lassen High School until next year’s Axe Battle when Chester will try to win it back.
