After securing a 7-3 Westside League record, Lassen High School's girls' basketball team was awarded a home game to open the Northern Section Division III playoffs.

The Lady Cougars ran the table in the GVC after serving as the conference doormat last year.

Mike Skinner pulled alongside teammate Dale Earnhardt's car at the end last Sunday's Daytona 500. Less than an hour later he learned he lost his teammate.
