LHS JV Grizzlies beat Paradise 71-57

Jan. 9 — The Lassen High School JV basketball team won its game against Paradise High School in front of a large crowd in The Cave on Jan. 8. The final score was 71-57.

Sophomore Kyle Barnetche eludes Paradise defense and takes a clear shot for the Grizzlies in Tuesday night’s game.

 

 

 

Janesville Wrestling competes in Nevada tournament

Jan. 8 — The Janesville Wrestling organization sent eight wresters to compete in a tournament in Fallon, Nev. on Jan. 6.

Parker Montgomery took second place in bantam division. In the intermediate division, Morgan Rausch and Kevin Kriar won first place, Tristen Marshall took second place and Braiden Fitzgerald took third. Antonio Kriar won first place in novice and Bonner Montgomery took second. Levi Prater took third place in schoolboy division.

Kami Prater, publicist for Janesville Wrestling, said, “We are so proud of our small town group. Every single one of the boys placed in the top three.”

Janesville Wrestling will travel to Carson City, Nev. next weekend for another tournament.

 

LHS Lady Grizzlies win consolation in West Valley Tournament

Jan. 7 – The Lassen High School girls basketball team won consolation at the West Valley Tournament held Jan. 3-5. The Lady Grizzlies beat Central Valley 53-31 and Gridley 61-40. They lost to Shasta. Mikailia McClure-Bustamante and Jacqui Smith were awarded all tourney.

 

Coppervale Ski Area open and ready for season

Jan. 4, 2013 — Coppervale Ski Area opened Dec. 24 after winter storms dropped several feet of snow on the slopes. Coppervale is currently open and has three to five feet of well-groomed snow for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy.
