Junior varsity Grizzlies take first place

The Grizzlies went 3-0 in the tournament, beating Quincy in the first game, 81-41, Portola in the second game, 62-20, in the championship game they took on Fallon and won, 65-46. Raschein was named most outstanding player of the tournament and Barnetche received all-tourney honors.

Lady Jacks beat the Honkers in first-round of playoffs

Nov. 15, 2012 — The Westwood High School volleyball team hosted the Tulelake Honkers in the first round of playoffs Tuesday, Nov. 6. The Lady Jacks ended up routing the Honkers in three straight sets and advancing to the second round.

The Lady Jacks came in as the fourth-seed in the playoffs and were ready to take on the fifth-seeded Honkers.

 

Lady Cougars take down Feather River in last conference game of the season

Nov. 14, 2012 — The Lassen Community College women’s soccer team traveled to Quincy to take on the Feather River Golden Eagles Tuesday, Nov. 6 for their last Golden Valley Conference (GVC) game of the season.

The Lady Cougars needed a win to make playoffs and to possibly win the GVC title. The Lady Cougars came back to beat the Golden Eagles, 2-1.

After a slow start, a Golden Eagles’ forward knocked in a goal from about 20 yards away, giving the Golden Eagles the early 1-0 lead.
