Dahle holds town hall meeting

Tuesday, June 24, 2014 — First District Assemblyman Brian Dahle will meet with his constituents at a town hall meeting held from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 26 at the Lassen County Board of Supervisors Chambers, located at 707 Nevada St. in Susanville.

“Being such a large and rural assembly district, it is often difficult to be everywhere all the time,” Dahle said. “It is the goal of these upcoming town halls, and those to come, that constituents in the North State ensure their voice is heard and feel they are being represented in Sacramento.I look forward to hearing from the people I represent.”

Dahle’s town hall meeting in Susanville is the last of six recently scheduled meeting with constituents. He also held town hall meetings in Magalia (June 17), Truckee (June 18), Palo Cedro (June 19), Weed (June 19) and Adin (June 20).

Board offers settlement for Credence property

Tuesday, June 24, 2014 — The Lassen Union High School District Board of Trustees has offered a settlement agreement with the Susanville School District regarding ownership of the former Credence High School property.

According to board president Skip Jones, the district’s attorney, Tom Barth, wrote the agreement as a neutral party so Susanville School District will not have to put one together and charge legal fees. The agreement is not yet available to the public as it has not been settled and modifications can still be made.

As of press time, Jones said the Susanville School District had not responded to the settlement that was sent June 3.

Lassen County Fair looking for Employee of the Year nominations

Monday, June 23, 2014 — Is there someone you know who goes the extra mile and makes a difference in your workplace?

The Lassen County Fair is providing an opportunity to acknowledge a hardworking individual who will be announced during a luncheon held at noon July 18 on the north grandstand.

Employers are encouraged to bring their employees, staff and other faculty that make a difference.

Man killed in car accident on Highway 44

Thursday, June 19 — A fatal collision closed a portion of Highway 44 for several hours Wednesday, June 18.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 1 p.m. a 59-year-old man from Salem, Oregon was driving his 1990 GMC Sierra truck when he drifted off the road to the north colliding with a large pine tree and killing him instantly.

The westbound lane was closed for four hours due to extrication of the driver and recovery of the vehicle.

The collision remains under investigation and identification of the driver is pending notification of next of kin.
