As he became a young man, he served in the United States Army before beginning his career with the Bureau of Land Management. Don was a wildlife biologist for 30 years with BLM and retired in 2006. After retirement, he became very active with the Lassen County Fish and Game Commission and the Sierra Sportsman Club.
Don is survived by many friends and family. Wife, Judy Armentrout; children, Mark (Duress) Newell, daughter Cheri (Mark) Rossi, all of Southern California; grandchildren, Travis, Amanda, Erika, Adam and Jacob. He also had an “adopted” mom, Lillian Richert, of Las Vegas, Nevada.
