The 16th Annual Friends in Art Holiday Show and Sale takes place Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday Dec. 10. This penguin was painted on a miniature canvas and fashioned into an ornament by Norma DeBaker. This and many other pieces of art will be available for purchase at the event.

With Christmas rapidly approaching, many people are rushing to find gifts for family and friends.

Gift seekers can find unique, homemade gifts for their loved ones at the 16th Annual Friends in Art Holiday Show and Sale from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Artisan Coffee in Janesville.

“I want the community to support local artists, Artisan Coffee and the Janesville community as a whole,” said Norma DeBaker, of Friends in Art.

The event will feature a variety of art including watercolor and oil paintings, pen and ink artwork, ceramics, metal sculptures, jewelry, woodwork and photography.

Art from local artists will be on display. Some of the artists whose work will be at the event are Isabel Perez-Judge, Norma DeBaker, Ron McBride, Michael Giampaoli, Lind Erway, Susan Dunklau, Craig Sanders and more.

“These are amazing artists and have beautiful crafts, paintings and one of a kind pieces all made in Lassen County and the USA,” said DeBaker.

Isabel Perez-Judge, Cende Hill, Edith Schwarium, Helen Brown and DeBaker founded the Friends in Art in 2000.

The Friends in Art strives to bring people together through art in Janesville and all of Lassen County.
