This year the Lassen County Fair was full of “Cowboy Boots and Country Roots.” The Junior Livestock Auction raised more than $349,051 with 114 lots sold in the Livestock Pavilion on July 24. That shows the great support from the community and surrounding areas for the youth of Lassen County.

The 2022 auction began with the sale of Grand Champion Market Hog which was raised by Branson Glover from Susanville FFA and was purchased by Hat Creek Construction for $21.50/pound.
Banner Lassen Medical Center Properties bought the Reserve Grand Champion Hog from Colin Molina from Susanville FFA for $21.50/pound.
Dersch Apiaries bought the Champion Rabbit Meat Pen from Aubreann Rotlisberger, Richmond 4-H, for $2,300.
The Reserve Champion Meat Pen was raised by Addalyn Rotlisberger also from Richmond 4-H and sold to Smith Properties for $2,100.
Hat Creek Construction and Kirack Construction purchased the Grand Champion Market Lamb for $34.00/pound from Katelyn Kirack from Richmond 4-H and Susanville Supermarket IGA bought the Reserve Grand Champion Lamb from Maddi Johnson, a member of Milford 4-H, for $31/ pound. The recipient of the Jack and Pat Haslem Memorial Award for the Best Local Bred and Fed Lamb went to Maddi Johnson’s lamb bred by local breeders Terry and Debi Savage.
The Supreme Grand Champion Poultry Meat Pen was exhibited by Devan Gallagher from Herlong FFA and was purchased by Lassen County Supervisor Aaron Albaugh and Assemblywoman Megan Dahle for $1,800. The Reserve Champion Poultry Pen was raised by Emma Deehan from Milford 4-H and sold to MLJ Show Cattle for $1,000.
The Grand Champion Market Goat was shown by Carlee Parker from Richmond 4-H and sold to Savage Ranch and Feed Store for $22.00/ pound. Dayton Duerksen, from Westwood FFA, raised the Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat which was sold to the CHP 140 Club for $12 pound. The Local Bred and Fed award recipient was Paige Parker.
The Supreme Market Duck Pen was purchased by Willis Dow for $2,400 from Derek Cook from Richmond 4-H. Thompson Land Management bought the Reserve Champion Market Duck Pen for $700 which was shown by Aidan Adams a member of Susanville FFA.
Maddi Johnson, showing from Milford 4-H, sold her Grand Champion Market Steer to Fire Water Supply and Lassen County Sheriff’s Possee for $12,150. The Reserve Grand Champion Steer, owned by Peyton Pratt of Richmond 4-H, was purchased by Hat Creek Construction and Idaho Butcher Shoppe for $9,450.
The Champion Dairy Steer was exhibited by Megan vonHelf from Richmond 4-H and sold for $4,020 to AXIA Home Loans.
Sierra Desert Properties bought the Grand Champion Turkey from Aubrey Lutes, a Westwood FFA member for $1,100. Payten Deehan, a Milford 4-H member, raised the Reserve Grand Champion Turkey which was sold to Mark and Laura Rotlisberger for $775.
