Number of COVID-19 cases in Lassen County continues to rise

The number of people stricken with COVID-19 continues to rise in Lassen County. As of 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, Lassen Cares, the organization that tracks COVID-19 in Lassen County, reports 508 active cases. At 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 Lassen Cares reported 399 active cases.  On Friday, Jan. 14, Lassen Cares reported 289 active cases.

Richard Egan, a public information officer for Lassen Cares, acknowledged the increase in the number of cases, but he said the good news is, despite the increased number of cases, no one is currently hospitalized because of the virus. Egan also serves as Lassen County’s Administrative Officer, and he said some county employees have contracted the disease, “but nothing that seems very serious.”
