Jerrie Rose (Garnett) Rhodes

, of Adin, California passed away Oct. 21, 2022 at Senior Bridges in Sparks Nevada. She was born Oct. 7, 1938 in Sacramento, California, the daughter of Lester Earl and Pansy Edna (Rhoads) Garnett. She grew up in Antelope, California with 11 brothers and sisters. Jerrie married her childhood best friend, our Dad, Robert G. Rhodes on Feb. 2, 1957, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2008. She was a rancher/farmer’s wife, a mom, aunt, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.

Jerrie’s favorite pastime was working in her garden wherever she lived, McArthur, Fall River and in Adin.  Her yard was the talk of the town, as our uncle would say, “Jerrie can throw tomato seeds on to pavement and get a beautiful plant to grow.”  Jerrie loved old westerns, Gunsmoke was her favorite, old music like Elvis, Red Sovine, Boxcar Willie and Jerry Reed.  She loved her dogs (Mutt was the favorite) the most but cared for all animals especially when Dad told her not to bring anymore home. Well, she did.  Jerrie loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she would always get them out in her garden to pick vegetables, flowers or just play in the dirt. She was highly active in her children’s and (great) grandchildren’s upbringing.

She is survived by her children, Joyce Cook, of Burney California, Ron Rhodes, of Adin California, Geraldine May, of McArthur California and Terrie (Kenny) Loflin, of Janesville, California.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Pansy Garnett, 11 brothers and sisters, Noreen Murray and she is also survived by her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to join us for the Celebration of Life that will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 2, 2023 (Bob and Jerrie’s anniversary) with brunch to follow at the Adin Community Bible Church on Highway 299 and Oak Street in Adin. We are celebrating Jerrie’s life along with our parents being together on their anniversary traveling to eternity.
