Far Northern Regional Center announces grant funding opportunity for inclusive social rec programs in nine counties

Far Northern Regional Center, in partnership with the California Department of Developmental Services, announced its 2023, Enhanced Community Integration for Children and Adolescents grants.

FNRC invites community partners to submit proposals that promote and foster friendships between children and adolescents with and without intellectual developmental disabilities through integrated and inclusive social and recreational programs.

Successful applications will outline innovative projects that support and promote diversity and inclusion of children and adolescents ages 3 to 21, designed to:

  • Improve accessibility of integrated social and recreational programs that are person-centered and culturally and linguistically responsive to the beliefs, values and choices of children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Utilize and leverage existing community resources to enhance and develop integrated and
    inclusive social and recreational programs that are safe and age appropriate; and,

• Increase the number of FNRC vendored providers that offer integrated and inclusive social and recreational services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with a focus on regional center eligible youth from diverse monolingual and multilingual communities.
