34th annual Junior Fishing Derby results

The 34th annual Junior Fishing Derby, cancelled earlier this year due to safety concerns about the high water level in the Susan River finally was held Saturday, Sept. 30.

“It was a great derby,” said Lassen Sportsmen’s Club President Wade Workman. “We only had  about a third of the normal number of participants, and everybody braved the rain. The most important thing is the majority of the kids were able to get their limit, five fish.”

According to the results, 129 participants registered for the event — 46 for ages 2 to 5; and 83 for ages 6 to 15.

According to the results it was, “A rainy day just perfect for fishing with temperatures from 45° to 53° degrees.”
