Golf cart passenger suffers major injuries in alleged DUI incident near Almanor West

Cassidy Cushing, 23, of Martinez, California, was flown to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, California, after suffering major injuries in a golf cart incident at the intersection of Almanor West Drive and Long Iron Drive about 3:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. The golf cart’s driver, Riley Silveira, 23, of San Francisco, California, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, “On Sept. 14, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Riley Silveira of San Francisco was driving a two-seat golf cart westbound on Lake Almanor West Drive from Long Iron Drive.  Four other passengers were riding in and on the golf cart.  Silveira turned left and the right rear passenger, Cassidy Cushing of Martinez was ejected.  Cushing was flown to Enloe Medical Center for major injuries.  Silveira was arrested on scene for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages.”

According to the CHP, the other individuals riding on the golf cart were Joseph Disanto, 23, of San Rafael, California, Chole Berg, 23, of San Francisco, and Lena Heaney, 22, of San Francisco.
