No Kings 3 protest to be held Saturday

Lassen Indivisible hosts the No Kings 3 protest — the local adaptation of a national and international protest against President Donald Trump — from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 28 on the corner of Main St. and Highway 139 in Susanville.

Lassen Indivisible asks participants to donate a nonperishable food item to be donated to the Hope Food Pantry.

No Kings 3 organizers in Chico report 3,000 events already have been scheduled, and they expect this will be the “biggest protest event in American history.”

According to a statement by Defenders of Democracy Coalition in Chico, “on Saturday, March 28, the Defenders and friends will join more than 3,000 communities across all 50 states, and even globally, for ‘No Kings 3,’ a national day of peaceful protest against the Trump administration’s rapid expansion of executive power and authoritarian policies.

The event, which aims to follow up on the successful October 2025 demonstrations that saw more than 7 million turn out across the country, is a “bold and joyful assertion of our 1st amendment rights,” according to local organizer LeAnn Jenswold of the Re-Sisters.

The group plans to “gather together to raise our voices, uplift one another and show that our community refuses to be silent in the face of abuses of power. We will say no to the regime’s illegal war, threats to voting rights, ongoing ICE terror and bottomless corruption while making this No Kings Day the biggest single-day protest in American history.”

“No Kings is not just a slogan or a single day of action,” said Ezra Levin, Co-Executive Director of Indivisible, “It’s a principle we carry every day as we stand in solidarity with communities being harmed and confront authoritarianism wherever it shows up … ”
