On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 3:36 p.m., the Susanville Fire Department Engine 621 was dispatched to the 500 block of Quarry Street responding to a medical aid.
At around 3:48 p.m., fire personnel requested assistance from the Susanville Police Department after the male subject was brandishing a firearm.
While officers were enroute, fire personnel further advised that the individual had begun actively discharging the firearm.
Responding law enforcement officers arrived on scene after a short period of time were able to successfully deescalate the situation and safely detain the subject, identified as Carson Charles Hubauer, and he was arrested on multiple charges.
None of the responding officers or the subject involved sustained any injuries.
The SPD is grateful that no injuries occurred and confirms there is no ongoing threat to the community.
