An unidentified 49-year-old man from Snohomish, Washington was killed about 2:45 p.m. Sunday, May 17, when his 2025 BMW motorcycle collided with a 2025 Subaru Ascent ln Highway 395 3 miles south of Hall Road in Doyle.
According to a statement by the CHP, Johnney Mixon, 84, was driving the Subaru southbound on Highway 395 when he attempted to overtake a slower moving truck tractor.
He pulled into the northbound lane directly into the path of a motorcyclist traveling northbound. The front of the Subaru collided with the motorcycle. The rider was ejected, sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Subaru careened off of the west side of the highway and caught fire. Passersby stopped and helped Mixon and his passenger, Barbara Mixon, 84, to safety.
They were later transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada, by ground ambulance.
The roadway was closed for the emergency response and scene clean up, and traffic was diverted onto Constantia Road. One-way traffic control was established on Highway 395 about 8 p.m. while fire crews completed their suppression efforts.
Fatal victim information is available through the county coroner.
