Chris Rochette, a science fiction writer from Janesville, will sign copies of his novel, “The Outer Rings” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at Margie’s Book Nook. The novel is the first book in a series of three.

Rochette, who arrived in Lassen County about two years ago following service in the U.S. Coast Guard where he said he “traveled the world” protecting the nation.
He said he met his wife in the Coast Guard, and for nearly 20 years he worked on ships in a Bay Area shipyard in Alameda.
He said he’s included his extensive knowledge of ships — space ships in this case — in his novel set in the near future exploring a conflict between two groups fighting over the appropriateness of terraforming of the moon.
