An recent amendment extends a contract for various building services for the county.
During the Tuesday Lassen County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board unanimously authorized the chairman to sign an amendment to the contract with Willdan Engineering for various building services.
Since 2012, Willdan Engineering has provided various building services to Lassen County, since the department does not have an in-house building official or an engineer.
The contract amendment increases the amount payable from $80,000 to $140,000 and extends the term of the contract to June 30, 2024.
“However, it is important to note that the current contract has been in place since July 1, 2016, and the $80,000 currently payable has been sufficient since that time. It is anticipated the additional $60,000 that will become payable if the amendment is approved will be sufficient for the entire term of the proposed amendment, through June 30, 2024,” read the staff report.
Sufficient funds have been appropriated for the current fiscal year, Assistant Director of Planning and Building Gaylon Norwood informed the board.
Through the contract, Willdan retains 65 percent of the existing plan check fee, and most of the contract is paid by building permit applicants, Norwood elaborated.
Planning and Building Director Maurice Anderson noted that the county has been receiving favorable remarks on the turn around time for plan checks while under the contract.
The board unanimously approved the amendment.
