Local residents march in a previous Right to Life event in Susanville.

Annual Right to Life prayer event held at 2 p.m. Sunday

Despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, abortions continue in some states, and local Christians gather for a prayer event at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Lassen Shopping Center.

Organizer Leann Vanderly said, “Each year we promote the sanctity of human life by taking a stand publicly. Across America hundreds of cities do this every year. We just stand on the sidewalk for one hour silently holding signs which read: Abortion Kills Children; Jesus Heals and Forgives; and Adoption, the Loving Option.

“The intent is to bring attention to the abortion issue. We’re promoting the sanctity of human life by opening people’s eyes — bringing light to an issue that is still ongoing that takes the innocent lives that God has created.”

Vanderly said she will provide the signs for participants.

According to a Facebook post on the event, “Pray about it, and see if you should unite with me to take a public stand against abortion this Sunday … The devil wants our babies dead. The Author of Life treasures each life that He creates.”
