Some schools surrounding the Susanville area have delayed the beginning of the year again due to the Dixie Fire.
With some faculty, staff and students under evacuation orders due to the Dixie Fire still, area schools including at least Lassen High School, Diamond View, Meadow View, McKinley, Johnstonville, Janesville, Richmond and Shaffer have moved the start date to Monday, Aug. 30.
“We have so many of our kids and families, and also staff, who are in harms way. So it was best to go ahead and err on the side of caution, and push the start day to Aug. 30,” LHS Principal/ Superintendent said in a video update.
