Be prepared for snow removal on city streets

Ryan Cochran, Susanville’s chief of police, reminds city residents to be ready for snow removal throughout the city.

“The city of Susanville has an ordinance that becomes effective whenever there is 3 inches of snow or ice on any part of the roadways in the city,” Cochran said. “During these conditions, no vehicle may be parked of left unattended on any city street. Vehicles may be towed immediately at the owner’s expense.”

According to the California Vehicle Code, any time a vehicle is left on any public street or alley for than 72 consecutive hours, that vehicle also may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Vehicles parked on snowy streets also may be subject to parking citations.
