Bridges praises success of the county’s ‘Dine Around Town’ program and upcoming expansion to home-delivered meals

These three entities work together to feed seniors as part of the Dine Around Town program.

During unagendized reports at the Tuesday, Sept. 19, Lassen County Board of Supervisors meeting, Lassen County District 2 Supervisor Gary Bridges touted the success of the Dine Around Town program — a joint effort between PSA 2 Area Agency on Aging, in partnership with the Lassen County Health and Human Services Agency and Lumberjacks Restaurant.

Bridges said he attended the Monday, Sept. 18 PSA2 executive board meeting and shared a positive message.

“I’m happy to say our Dine Around Town program is a huge success,” Bridges said. “We are now feeding 175 seniors with vouchers, and we’re working and will be doing home deliveries shortly. I’ve got all the tools in my basement for the home delivery — the hot boxes, everything. It’s been a great success, and we’re always working on expanding it because we still have seniors who are not being fed. It is an issue, but it took 2 1/2 years to get this program up and running, and it’s something I’m very, very proud of.”
