FREE FAMILY FUN APPRECIATION DAY
Chris Johnson, General Manager at Susanville Auto Center, is pleased to welcome the residents of Lassen and Plumas counties to attend their free Family Fun Appreciation Day and Lassen County Chamber Mixer. The extravaganza will start at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. They’ve gone all out to put together what is sure to be an opportunity to bring your family and friends to enjoy lots of fun activities. You’ll want to bring your towels and swimsuit because there will be a bounce house water slide and regular bounce house, too. Plus, they have a professional face painter, so you can paint on your happy face!
You’ll enjoy a delicious feast and refreshments; in addition to fabulous drawings and giveaways until 8 p.m. Starting at 6 p.m. you can kick up your heels and dance to the live music from local band Timeless. While you’re there, be sure to say good-bye to master mechanic Ralph Lounsbury, who is retiring after 42 years. This is not a sales event, it is just Susanville Auto Center’s way of inviting the town to gather together with family and friends, share a meal, cool off from the summer heat and have some fun!

THOMPSON PEAK INITIATIVE
The Lassen County Fire Safe Council would like to invite you to join them for their first Thompson Peak Initiative Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 12 at the Janesville Fire Department located at 463-390 Main St., Janesville. This announcement is made possible by using Title III funds contributed by the Lassen County Board of Supervisors.

FOODLINK DISTRIBUTION
The California Foodlink Food Distribution schedule is in the paper this week. They will be making food box distributions at several sites throughout Lassen County for recipients formerly served by the Lassen County Council on Aging and to those who qualify. LASSEN COLLEGE BOOTCAMP
If your student is new to Lassen Community College, then be sure to have them plan on attending their Bootcamp and Student Orientation. The program includes a free lunch and there is new topic covered each day. It can be confusing going from high school to college and their staff has put together a great program to help your student get the new year kicked off to a positive start. Their ad has the complete schedule of each day’s topics running through Friday, Aug. 16.

ANNUAL BBQ COOKOFF
Lassen Senior Services is gearing up for its fifth annual BBQ Cookoff at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. You’ll get to try delicious food and vote for the People’s Choice award. This year they have a classic car show and a kids’ play area provided by Extreme Events, of Westwood. So plan on bringing your family and friends and support this worthwhile fundraiser and enjoy the best barbecue in town!

CUTEST PET CONTEST EXTENDED
The Glasses at Milwood Florist and Treats Pet Supply have extended their cutest pet contest. You still have time to bring in your picture of your cute pet though Sept. 1. The winner will win a gift basket to pamper your fur baby. Drop your picture off at the store and check out their wide selection of premium pet food, pick up a bouquet of flowers for your mom or treat yourself to a delicious truffle.

DANCE YOUR HEART OUT
Jessica Newton-Wade, JandJ Performing Arts owner, is excited to announce her studio has moved to 611 Main St. in Uptown Susanville. She now has a bigger space for more amazing classes. JandJ Performing Arts is also taking enrollment for the 2019-2020 performance year. Newton-Wade is offering a free trial week of dance classes just to make sure your dancer loves his or her classes.
