Soroptimist International of Susanville is hosting their self-esteem program and luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1. This program encourages girls (ages 9-12) and their mothers or adult female mentor to be their guests at the Monticola Club, where they will be serving a free lunch to those attending. The event is designed to educate and inspire girls on a wider definition of making them feel more confident about themselves. Larry and Donna Smith, of Smith Properties, welcome new Realtor Sarah Leef to their office. Sarah recently moved to the Susanville area with her husband and daughter. With the crazy winter we had, Dale Joseph, owner of Dalcar Electrical Plumbing and Heating Supply in Johnstonville, reminds us he has generator cords (if we happen to loose power again), heaters for the wall and little electric ones, too. Then when spring rolls around (soon, we hope), he does have sprinkler supplies as well. From 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 18 Lake 4-H will be hosting their annual Corned Beef and Cabbage feed at the Janesville Fire Hall. They are also offering takeout orders that night too. You can also join them for breakfast that morning from 7 am to 10 am. Proceeds will benefit Lake 4-H and the Lassen County 4-H Washington Focus.

Speaking of Washington DC, four Lassen County 4-H members will be attending the Washington DC Citizenship Focus in June. They are trying to raise money for the trip. In fact they are partnering with Lumberjacks Restaurant from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. this Thursday, March 16. You can go have dinner and Tip a 4-H member. Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon will be having a special menu for St. Patrick’s Day on Friday March 17. They will have St. Paddy’s Day cocktails, too. Plus, they’ve opened their new brewery and tasting room located at 702-000 Johnstonville Rd. in Susanville. Lassen Ale Works at The Boardroom. The new location is open from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. You’ll be able to enjoy beer, California wines, fresh salads and real Italian style thin crust pizza. Lassen Humane Society is hosting their 9th annual St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser dinner at the Susanville Senior Center from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, while supplies last. In addition to dining in on their traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner, they are also offering take out dinners. There will be lots of great items at their silent auction too. Diamond Mountain Casino, Hotel and Brewery have a lot going on this week. On March 17 they’ll be serving a corned beef and cabbage along with potatoes, carrots, dinner roll and soup or salad. This delicious complete dinner will be served starting at 11 a.m., while supplies last. Then from the 17 through the 19, they will be celebrating their 21st anniversary. David Teeter at Margie’s Book Nook is having a book signing featuring author V.J. Hamletts new book The Legend of Ireland. The signing is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18. Lassen Community College is sponsoring a special showing of the movie Hidden Figures to celebrate Black History and Women’s History months. The showing will be held at 3:30 p.m. March 15 at the Sierra Theatre in Uptown Susanville. This event is free to the community and complimentary popcorn and a drink will be available for all attendees. If you love the space program, then you will want to watch the true story of the African-American women mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the space program.
