CALIFORNIA DEER ASSOCIATION BANQUET
This Saturday, Aug. 5, the Susanville Chapter of the California Deer Association is having its inaugural fundraiser banquet at Jensen Hall at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. There will be a live auction, as well as a chance to win hunts, trips and much more. Presale tickets are still available. NEW KIOSK
Kelley Cote, director of Lassen County Department of Child Support Services, tells us they have a new kiosk. The kiosk is located in the outer office of their Riverside Drive office, and it accepts cash, credit, debit and e-checks. “We have made things simpler with our new kiosk, it makes it easier for people to pay their child support in a quick, easy manner,” said Cote.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Susanville Church of Christ is hosting its Vacation Bible School next week. Join them from Aug. 7 to 10 in the evenings. It’s open to kids ages 4 to 12. For more information, call Danny Matchniff at the church at 257-5433.
VFW BREAKFAST
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, William Davidson, Post 2381, will once again be hosting its monthly breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 5. The breakfast will be downstairs at the Veterans Memorial building on Main Street in Susanville. The menu is scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns and more. WIC CELEBRATING WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK
In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, the WIC program will be hosting a celebration and community walk along Main Street Susanville from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4. They will be providing some giveaway items and snacks for those in attendance. The community is welcome to join them for this event. They also offer breastfeeding support and referral services at the local WIC office.
INDIAN TACO FUNDRAISER
Local student Richard Lent has been accepted into the Universal Technical Institute and to help support him at college this fall, there will be an Indian Taco fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 at the Susanville Indian Rancheria gymnasium. COLLEGE BOOT CAMP IS COMING
Helping your college student succeed is the key goal of the staff at Lassen Community College. Their staff has put together a free College Success Boot Camp for LCC students only. The camp will run from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 7 to 18. This week’s ad has the complete program schedule for all 10 sessions. Students do not need to preregister, just show up and learn the latest in skills for student success.
