Cal Fire’s Lassen Modoc Unit and the Susanville Fire Department will conduct a training burn along the River Walk Trail on the Susan River during the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 12.
According to a statement on the training, “Cal Fire and the Susanville City Fire Department will be using this opportunity to reduce the risk of wildfires while also providing training for local firefighters.”
Kevin Jones, Susanville city administrative office and chief of police, said officers will be present during the training due to the presence of any illegal campers the firefighters may encounter on city property where camping is prohibited.
