The Big Valley High School softball team traveled to Herlong High on April 18 to challenge the Vikings to a doubleheader.
The Big Valley Cardinals seemed to have packed a punch on their way to Herlong, as the first of the two games finished with a 16-12 win for the Lady Cardinals.
However, the Lady Vikings were a strong competitor for the Cardinals and were not afraid to punch back.
Beth Marcotte scored three runs for Herlong High, and Krista Carpenter scored four. Carmen Plaster followed up with another four runs scored, and Kimi Bragg finished off the Viking point tally with one run.
Game two was closer than the first, but the score was ultimately called at 9-8 favoring Big Valley once again.
For the Vikings, runs were scored by Marcotte, Carpenter, Ivy Troit and Autumn Thurber.
With the two games on the record, the Cardinals’ league record was changed to 3-5 with their overall record for the 2017 spring season at 3-9-1.
