Cause of Travel Inn room fire remains under investigation

The cause of the Travel Inn structure fire remains under investigation, according to a statement from the Susanville Fire Department.

At about 8 a.m. Saturday, the Susanville Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire located at 1067 Main Street.

Upon arrival, the first due engine company reported a fully involved hotel room fire that was located on the third floor. Quick and aggressive firefighting efforts were performed. The fire was contained and extinguished  and followed by mop up operations.

According to the statement, there was only minor smoke damage to the surrounding rooms.

All occupants were out of the room upon arrival.

The hotel room suffered heavy smoke and fire damage to the inside and to the overhang outside the door. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Susanville Fire Department was assisted by the following agencies: Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, Cal Fire, LMUD, and the City Public Works Department. Total equipment committed to the incident was three chief officers, two engines, one truck, two Susanville Police Department officers, and two Lassen County Sheriff’s Office deputies, for a total of 17 personnel.
