Lassen Family Services invites the public to join them by wearing denim of Denim Day, Wednesday, April 29.
LFS asks the public to submit pictures to their website or post them on Instagram or Facebook. Make sure to use #lfsdenimday so the organization can find your pictures.
According to a statement from the organization, “Everyone who submits or posts a picture will be entered into a drawing to win an Amazon Gift Card. If your agency submits a picture, be sure to include the names of those wearing denim so they can be entered into the drawing. The winner will be announced Thursday, April 30.
“Join us on April 29,” the statement read. “Millions of people around the world will wear jeans with a purpose, support survivors and educate themselves and others about all forms of sexual violence.”
On April 29, people around the world wear denim in response to a 1988 Italian Supreme Court decision that overturned a rape conviction “because the victim wore very, very tight jeans, she had to help him remove them, and by removing the jeans it was no longer rape but consensual.”
