Looking for some fireworks to spark up your Fourth of July celebrations?
The Lassen County Fairgrounds presents the free Susanville Fireworks Show that begins about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 4 following the Fourth of July stock car races at the fairgrounds.
The gates open at 5 p.m. and the racing starts at 6 p.m.
The fireworks show is sponsored by the city of Susanville, Diamond Mountain Casino and Hotel, Les Schwab Tire, Sierra Central Credit Union, Tri Counties Bank and Alpine Beverage.
Safety information from the Susanville Fire Department
The Susanville Fire Department offered the following information for a safe and sane Fourth of July celebration.
All fireworks must be California State Fire Marshall approved as “Safe and Sane.”
Fireworks are for sale and use only inside the city limits. Fireworks may not be transported outside the city limits.
Fireworks may be purchased in Susanville from June 28 through noon July 6. They may not be sold, given or delivered to anyone under 16 years of age.
Fireworks may only be used between 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 4 and 2 a.m. Thursday, July 5.
Fireworks that are not used correctly may cause a fire. Fires can cause severe burns and even death.
Leaving fireworks on the ground after use is considered littering.
Altering any Safe and Sane firework makes it an illegal and dangerous firework — punishable by fine.
The use and sale of fireworks is governed by the Susanville Municipal Code.
