Junior Fishing Derby
The Lassen Sportsmen’s Club presents the 2023 Junior Fishing Derby and says the Fishing Derby is still on for Saturday, Sept. 30. The weather is cooling off and Susan River still looks good, according to Derby Committee Chairperson Wade Workman.

CASA SUPERHERO 5K
Lassen Family Services presents the 6th annual CASA SUPERHERO 5K. They’re so excited to see everyone at their 6th annual CASA Superhero Fun Run and Walk Saturday, Sept. 30. General admission $20. This is a great reason to dress you and your kids up as your favorite superheroes. Vendors and informational booths wanted. Susanville Assembly of God Vendor Fair and Flea Market
The Susanville Assembly of God Church holds a Vendor Fair and Flea Market Saturday, Sept. 30, to help the church raise funds for a new boiler. The fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 473-465 Richmond Road and $10,000 is needed for the boiler. The Assembly of God is looking for indoor and outdoor vendors. The cost is $40 per space and setup will be Friday, Sept. 29. Call Ombre Tate at (951) 325-0683 to reserve your space.

Second annual Holiday with a Hero Ugly Christmas Sweater Golf Tournament
It’s back — the second annual Lassen County Holiday with A Hero Ugly Christmas Sweater Golf Tournament, Saturday, Oct. 7. Tee-off at 8:30 a.m. Orgainizers say it will fill up/sell out. Rails to Trails Festival
Lassen Land and Trails Trust presents the Rails to Trails Festival, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Depot, 601 Richmond Road, featuring handcar races, a farmers market, vendors, kids’ activities, local beer, great food, caboose tours, music and raffles.

Back Country Boutique at the Freaky Friday Midtown Bash
Join Back Country Boutique at the Freaky Friday Midtown Bash from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at 2055a Main Street. Celebrate with the wonderful businesses in Susanville’s midtown area. Lassen Family Services says its dancers are preparing for this year’s 10th Annual Dancing For A Brand New Me Oct. 21 and 22 at the Veterans Memorial Hall. Every Bloomin’ Thing presents Homefront Herbalist Fermentation Fun at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Every Bloomin Thing. Come and spend the evening with Kristie of Homefront Herbalist (formerly Kristie’s Kitchen) learning why it’s so important to incorporate fermented foods into our everyday diet. Can anyone say healthy gut microbiome? In this class you will learn about the process of fermentation, the benefits of eating fermented foods, taste some delicious samples and learn about the versatility of fermenting from veggies, fruit, to dairy and more. This class will offer a hands-on activity learning how to create your very own ferment from beginning to end to take home and enjoy.

Every Bloomin’ Thing Garden Center and Gift Shop for our Annual Harvest Open House
Join Every Bloomin’ Thing Garden Center and Gift Shop for its annual Harvest Open House from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Every Bloomin’ Thing, 705 Highway 395 E in Susanville. They will be hosting delicious gourmet goodies and libations during their Celebration of the Harvest Season. The nursery will be having a fall planting sale with all plants up to 60 percent off. They have invited local artisans to join them in the Garden Room as well. It’s always a wonderful day to visit with friends and prepare for the upcoming holidays.

KICK or Treat
Lassen Youth Soccer presents the KICK or Treat Halloween Soccer Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 14. U6-U19, $5 per player. VFW Saturday Breakfast
VFW, Veterans of Foreign Wars William Davidson Post 2381, presents Saturday Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. every first Saturday of the month, April through December downstairs in the back of the Veterans Memorial Hall. Breakfast is open to the public.

Lassen College Lunchtime Lecture Series
In our community, Lassen College presents a unique opportunity to engage in various enriching discussions with its free lunchtime lecture series. The series takes place every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m.to 12:30 p.m. at the Lassen Library District conference room on Main Street. These weekly, hour-long sessions delve into diverse topics ranging from practical skills such as writing effective professional emails and starting a small business, to crowd-pleaser topics including beekeeping and the mysterious world of spiders. They even cover critical issues like managing financial worries and cyber-awareness skills for the whole family. For a special treat, they also offer beginner and intermediate classes in AI with ChatGPT. All are invited to join these free, educational events. Budgeting and More Life Skills Course
Join Lassen Family Services for the Budgeting and More Life Skills Course from 4 to 5 p.m.  every Monday at Lassen Family Services, 1306 Riverside Drive. Calvary Kids Storytime
Calvary Kids Storytime is held from 1 to 2 p.m. every Tuesday at 450 Richmond Road. Bring your kids to a safe, peaceful place where they can be a kid.
