Child injured in two-car crash

A Chester child suffered minor injuries in a two-car collision at the intersection of highways 36 and 89 about 9:20 a.m. Friday, July 3.

According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, a 9-year-old child from Chester received minor injuries when a 2005 Chevrolet driven by David Darling, 64, of Browns Valley, California, stopped at the northbound stop sign on Highway 89 and then pulled into the path of a 2015 Toyota driven by Glen Gerbatz, 35, of Chester. Gerbatz applied the brakes, but hit the driver’s side of the Chevrolet.

Passengers Kelly Darling, 57, of Browns Valley and a 9-year-old from Reno, Nevada in the Gerbatz’s vehicle were not injured.

All passengers and parties were wearing lap/shoulder harnesses, and alcohol and/or drugs are not considered a factor in this collision.
